In a galaxy not so far away, financial crisis has sparked a heated debate about the future of the European Union. Exposing previously unchallenged weaknesses in the EU’s economic policies, Greece’s financial messiness has left countries across the EU with an unpleasant realization: that Europe, with its irrevocably intertwined economic union, has yet to come up with any type of satisfactory response to financial breakdowns. With countries such as Latvia, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, and Italy all likely inline behind Greece to request financial assistance, it is imperative that the EU secure effective measures to respond to financial crises before all faith in the Union and the euro is lost, at home and abroad (more…)
